Citizenship Education through Contextualized Discussions of Sustainability

This study explores the experiences of students who participated in TIDE Foundation’s initiative- Model City Council (MCC), designed to empower youth to tackle issues their city is facing. The study explores how the students’ involvement in panels, peer discussions, researching, designing and writing a resolution influences their understanding of social justice and development within their own cities. This study is being conducted as a mandatory undergraduate dissertation by a student at the University of Cambridge, where TIDE is facilitating access to participants by sharing relevant data of MCC participants for the study. This research seeks to contribute to the broader discourse on educational programs like MCC as a tool for youth empowerment and civic engagement.
